Ray mentioned the stories he had heard about the behaviour at the Christmas meal which unfortunately he had not been able to attend saying he was very disappointed and some members may be banned next year.

3. Matters Arising from 2016 Minutes.

No matters arising.

4. Presidents Report

Ray welcomed everyone to the 2018 AGM and thanked Tom Greenwood for his captaincy last year. He also thanked Tony Brinsley and Jimmy Banks for their help during the year and Ray Ford and Adrian Lardner for their help tonight. He wanted to mention one thing at the risk of being named an old fart - about the behaviour of members of the society. He reminded everyone that we are guests of the golf clubs where we play our golf and our behaviour should respect that. There were rumours going around of us getting a bad reputation and one club had made a complaint. Also, the behaviour of some of the members at the Christmas dinner at the pub was very poor and got out of hand and Matt was not impressed. Ray said next year we must behave better and show some respect and he hoped we all have a good next year and enjoy ourselves.
5. Treasurers Report

Jimmy Banks explained that subscriptions can remain at the current level as it pays for our Christmas meal and we had made a small surplus of £50 on the year. He said the society was solvent and the finances were doing well. He reiterated what Ray said about behaviour at the Christmas meal and reminded us all that we should all only drink what we can take.
Libby Porter asked a question on the accounts - what the accrual figures represented and Jimmy explained that it related to printing, trophies and bills due for payment.
The accounts were unanimously agreed by members.

6. Election of Officers

Chair Person : Ray Ford proposed by Tony Brinsley and seconded by Tom Greenwood.
Treasurer: Jimmy Banks proposed by Adrian Lardner and seconded by Tony Brinsley
Secretary :Tony Brinsley has stepped down. All members thanked him for his work over the years. There were two applicants, Phil Porter and Tom Greenwood and they were elected as joint secretaries.
Fines Chairman : Dan Davis with back up from Pat Harris.

All were voted in unanimously by the members.

7. Retiring Captains Report

Tom said that it had been an honour and privilege to be captain of the society. He really enjoyed his year and it was very exciting at the start but by the end of the year he was now glad to give it up to the new captain. He confirmed that Tom Howard and Dan Lall had tied for first place in today’s golf but congratulated Tom Howard for winning it on countback.
He hoped that members had enjoyed the season and thanked everyone for supporting him.

8. Election of New Captain & Vice Captain

The chairman welcomed the new captain Rob Harvey. Rob thanked Tom Greenwood for all his efforts and said he hoped that he could do the same during his year.
Rob announced his vice- captain as Danny Davis. He said he would not rattle on any more and was looking forward to being captain and the year ahead.

9. Election of new Members

Stuart Medway was present and applying to re-join after having a year out.
New applications had been received from Paul Monk a friend of member Steve Courtier and Robert Spear a friend of members Stuart Wilkinson but both were unable to attend the meeting.
An application was also made by Pete Robinson a member of Torquay Golf club
(current handicap 21).
All four new members proposed were unanimously agreed by members.

10. Membership Fee

The treasurer had already stated that the annual accounts supported keeping the membership fee at £15.00. Agreed unanimously by members.

11.Fixtures

The new fixture list was circulated for the coming year and Tony explained that a lot of the clubs had increased their prices for the coming year. He had kept the prices down by reducing some of the evening meals to one course. He said that one club had made some comments about the behaviour of our members when he tried to rebook for this year.
Members were reminded that when you put your name down on the list you were committed to paying the £5.00 for prizes and you may be liable for payment of the whole entrance fee, as clubs are increasingly charging us for all of the tee times we book, regardless of how many turn up to play.

12. AOB

Paul Howard raised a discussion point about the website and the regular updating of results as we should aim to get the information updated within a week. It was agreed that the two new joint secretaries would look into this and Phil agreed that we should aim to get it updated within 7 days.

Mel Wilks said that as well as the website we should also get the facebook page updated as a lot of the members were now using this instead

Ray Ford then announced the winners of the Dave Hyne Trophy which 25 members had played for earlier at Torquay Golf Club. The result was very close and two players had scored 33 points, Andy Knapman and Sue Gurney but Andy won on countback.

Tony Brinsley confirmed that handicaps stay the same as last year as this is the second year before they are due to change next year.

Alan Tucker asked if we could re-instate the ex-captains golf day this year. It was greed that this would be looked into as it was an important event for the society.

Ray Baldwin reminded trophy winners that you should take it to Torre Trophies to get it engraved and then keep the trophy for one month only. After one month please return the trophy to the pub so that we can put it back in the cabinet and we can keep track of the trophies.

Ray Ford declared the meeting closed and reminded everyone that we are a friendly society and please pay Jimmy Banks your membership fee before leaving.
